Our Commitment

Old logo vs the new logo of Wu Yee Children's Services

Wu Yee's branding continues to grow and change with the needs of the community

In 2020, Wu Yee Children’s Services embarked on a year-long rebranding effort and we are excited to share it with you.

The reason for this updated branding is a positive one. Over the past eight years, Wu Yee Children’s Services has more than doubled in size, opening new centers in diverse neighborhoods leading to a need to express the Agency’s goals and strategies to our expanded audience. Our story is one of resilience and determination. A story of social justice, and perseverance. The goal is to ensure all children in San Francisco receive the excellent early care and education they deserve from day one. It was time to rally our audiences around our values and in doing so continue the momentum established over the past four decades.

Wu Yee Children’s Services puts the child at the center of everything we do. We welcome our partners, friends and family to reaffirm their commitment with us to provide every child with the best start possible.

Our Belief - A Note from Board of Directors President Sonya Thomas and Chief Executive Monica Waters

Wu Yee Children’s Services believes nothing is more essential than excellent child care and education for all our children, right from the start.

Every day we partner with parents, as well as countless individuals and organizations across San Francisco and the Bay Area, to provide a network that strengthens and connects a diverse, resilient community around our children.

Because when we stand up for children, we stand up for one another.

In San Francisco every year, thousands of children whose families earn well below the self-sufficiency standard miss out on quality early education due to high costs and low capacity. In order to rebuild and recover from a chronically underfunded and exploitative system, we need to work together to build an early care and education system, and a future, that works for all.

Wu Yee means “protector of children” in Cantonese and we will continue with this legacy from our tenacious Chinese immigrant founders and community organizers who built an ambitious organization to help children and families thrive in an exclusionary system.

We are renewing our commitment to serve all of San Francisco’s children and above all, we know we cannot do it alone.

With your support and partnership, together, we will raise San Francisco.

In community,

Sonya Thomas
President, Board of Directors

Monica Walters
