Financial Literacy Workshop for Families

Jill Kohler, Ameritas, with Board Member Cindy Yang and Director of Advancement Virginia Cheung.

Supporting every member of the family

One of the many benefits for families enrolled in Wu Yee’s Early Learning Programs is the opportunity to participate in enriching workshops. Recent offerings include the latest Wu Yee Ambassador project: Financial Literacy Trainings, as well as:

  • COVID-19 vaccine information sessions with UCSF doctors

  • KidPower Safety Workshops

  • Social emotional health and COVID support groups for parents led by Family Advocates and Mental Health Consultants

  • Disaster preparedness trainings led by Community Youth Center

  • Oral Health workshops with The Magic Toothbus

Michelle Droz, Vice President of Alliant Employee Benefits, and founding Ambassador/Board Member Christopher Kuo created a financial literacy workshop for Wu Yee families, focusing on personal finance, including budgeting and savings. Volunteers Xiomara Vielman and Jenny Xu and Ambassador Tina Cheung shared their financial expertise and provided translation for the Q&A sessions offered in English, Spanish, Cantonese, and Mandarin, attended by twenty families from our Home Visiting Program, Early Head Start Family Child Care Homes, and Early Learning Centers.

The second session, sponsored by Comcast, focused on credit, including credit cards, loans, mortgages, credit scores, and more. Volunteers Gretel Tortolani and Tina Cheung translated the Q&A sessions.

Thank you Ameritas, Comcast, LanguageLine, Michelle, Chris, Xiomara, Jenny, Tina, and Gretel, for making these workshops possible!

Want to become an ambassador and make a serious impact on the community?
